Skiing at Mount Baw Baw

Sunrise over the valley below Another shot of the cloud-covered valley from Mount Baw Baw More of dawn above the clouds Good morning world... it's camera time for Sleepy Krista in front of the Mount Baw Baw Village Hotel The snowgums looked even cooler in the daylight The view was really great. This was just outside our hotel.

More snowy trees Snowy tree and morning sky The hills were covered with snowgums The sun begins to peek over the hills Ok, so there was some obsession with the trees. They just looked cool! More snowgums

Christian captures the road back to the car as he goes to drop off the camera so he can ski a bit before taking more pictures. The sun is beginning to come up behind the snowgums on the roadside View of sunrise from the parking lot Sun strikes the icy snowgum trees After skiing around for a while like a master while Krista struggles through the basics of ski lessons, Christian has retrieved the camera. A shot of the cloud-covered valley. Another shot of the valley below

Krista, in line for the lift to ski down the bottom of the bunny hill Krista observes the other bunny hill participants Krista on the platter lift, encouraged by nice ski instructor (up the hill a bit on the left - she was a cool lady :) Scary! Krista waits for her turn to ski down the bottom of the bunny hill A view from the top of the bunny hill. This was clearly taken by Christian... The only times Krista came up here were to be dragged down the hill holding on to Christian's back! The T-bar to the summit

Christian captures the scenery on the way up More snowgums on the lift up to the summit Icy snowgums against the sky The fantastic view from the top More views from the summit (Krista is highly jealous that she was too scared and uncoordinated to make it up there!) A clear view of the slopes and the cloud-covered valley as Christian skis down the hill

More on the way down! A pretty view on the way down the mountain Covert images of Krista in line for the bunny hill (grey jacket and funny rust-colored pants) More snowgums and slopes Just behind the small island of trees, halfway up the hill, Krista prepares for an attempt to descend! And... Krista fails! (note blob on ground to the left of the island of trees)

After a long time of trying to get up, Krista finally succeeds in taking her skis off, standing up, and putting them back on. Krista comes down the rest of the hill Ah HAH... And Christian has gotten Krista to the TOP of the bunny hill. Bad Christian, no cookie. The only way Krista will come back down is holding on to Christian for dear life! Snowgums More views coming down the mountain More views coming down the mountain

More views coming down the mountain Snowgums decorated by ice and wind A line of trees and the cloud-cover beyond You can see a bit more of the valley in this one More of the view on the way down Trees and mountains and clouds

Krista attempts to make it halfway down the bunny hill again. She considers sacrificing Christian to the gods, but then who would capture her success? :) Almost down the hill, no sign of falling! Yes! Krista revels in her successful descent and braking. I think this is a picture of Christian taking the ski lift up while Krista takes a rest on the bench below. Melting ice and a lovely blue sky Who's that man heading toward the orange cones? It's a bird... it's a plane... it's... Christian on skis!

Right after he sprays Krista and some poor Australian woman with snow while he brakes, Christian poses for his Krista makes the mistake of trying the T-Bar after much coersion from Christian. Actually, this is the second time. The first time, she fell off... Higher, and higher.. Ok, I'm getting off here... no more of that falling stuff Er, wait, there's no WAY I'm doing this... You want me to go down WHERE???

The end of the day, back in front of the ski rental place. Not EVERYTHING was covered in snow... Trees above the valley The hotel/pub The clouds have cleared and the forest and valley below can be seen Happy Skiing Christian says goodbye to Mount Baw Baw

This is the same valley we'd taken pictures of in the morning One last shot of the valley
